700 SP engine questions?

Was the 700 based on the 4-stroke snowmobile??If so, are the 780 cc cylinders off the sled compatable with the 700 engine?
Just curious,,,,trying to imagine what an 800 SP would be like?

I heard it was derived from the sled motor, but I don't know any more than that.

the cylinders I beleve are the same it is the stroke that is longer on the snowmobile don't know on the cam
