I BAUGHT A 300EX AND I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT. I BAUGHT IT FOR $200 IT HAD BAD BEARINGS SHOCKS BUT GOOD FRAME, MOTOR AND PLASTICS I PUT ALL RACING STUFF ON IT I HAVE NEVER HAD REAR BRAKES ON IT that worked. I FINALLY PURCHASED SOME PARTS AND MY E-BRAKE BLOCK OFF PLATE LEAKS UNDER PREASURE. DOES IT NEED A GASKET? WHAT SHOULD I DO ???

You shouldn't have brake fluid coming from the E-brake block off plate unless you have a bad piston seal in the caliper. Replace both the oil seal and dust seal and hone the caliper bore with a fine piece of embry cloth. Bleed the system and go from there.

You can get the seals from your dealer. They are not expensive.

If your dealer doesn't have the embry cloth,..check at a local auto parts house. They will have it.

It's not hard to do at all. Be sure to get some new brake fluid while your there. Clean your system out with new brake fluid. Just pump it through a few times before bleeding it. Don't use any type of cleaning chemicals to clean it or you will cause deteoriation and swelling of your new seals. Not to mention contamination of your new brake fluid.
