What is the best source for rear CV boot guards for Arctic Cat ATVs? Several people have recommended them but I haven't seen them listed in any of the catalogs I've looked through.

Your local dealer should either have or be able to order them. You might be able to order them directly at the Cat website.

DO NOT get the OEM cat rear cv boot guards. They cost me two cv boots. I installed the boots as per instructions and everything looked fine. When you install them the suspension is fully relaxed, the boots guards looked fine, travel and clearance looked fine. But when the suspension travels fully from compression to relaxation the boot guards peeled away the boot band. I had a hell of a time getting my dealer to come good for warranty repair on a quad under warranty due to the fact their cat accessory was the cause of my claim. After much bitching the dealer came good. The dealer than reshaped the guards to prevent this from reoccuring. It happened again. This time I replaced the boots out of my pocket expense, while the machine was under warranty. I eventually took the guards off, they where more trouble then they where worth. I was under the mistaken impression that OEM accessories fit better than aftermarket, as they are designed by the manufacturer. Wrong.

I was wandering about the trans. travel on these machines. I asked about rear boot protection on another thread...(Suzuki king quad 2001 model) but did not get any info. I was thinking of trying to form some sort of protection using heavy wire mesh from hardware store, but was worried about freeplay. any sugestions....will be helpful. Thanks in advance...Jb

Thanks again...Jb...(2001 king quad).re-thinking

Hey 250 Cat,

How do you like your 250? I'm thinking of getting a new 2001 250... Anything you don't like about it?

I weigh about 240#s and would ride it with the kids etc. Good fit?
