No airbox w/straight back k&ns touch the pipes (CPI's)

1)First does anyone run this way and have this problem.
2)If you leave airbox on (W/K&N or Pro Flow adapter)will I lose much power
3)Can you run different pipes and not touch DMC's,Paul Turners or Toomys T-5
4)Or ??????
