I have a question. Does anyone know if porting on a Raptor lakes that much of a differnce? I have a 2002 with a pipe, proflow, and a dynojet kit. I have a piston 12.5:1 and a cam/all around, on the way I was just wondering what everybody's opinion on porting is. And if you would port would you go sparks, trinity,or any of the other big names,or would you go with your local shop. Any advise would be helpful. Also if anyone could recomend shocks and a-arms that would be helpful to.

Thanks for any help.

Redblue75- port the head! Where my raptor used to fall flat on top, my 686 builds usuable power to the rev limiter.

Red/Blue69er, you already know what I think about this but I'll tell you again anyway. If you're going to have the cylinder head ported, then send it to someone reputable that has used a flowbench to R & D their work. I would not let someone without this knowledge port or "hog out" a cylinder head that I'm sure costs major bucks! You could run the bike without the porting for now and when the next rebuild comes around, you can then decide whether or not you want it ported. You'll be able to decide based on the bikes performance.

But knowing that you are always looking to get a leg up on everyone else, you'll probably get it done. And because you are anxious to have a very strong Raptor before too many of them are cruising our local riding area, (and because you want to try to beat me) you will probably let Donelsons do it. This I know because you would be on a waiting list with Sparks. Hehe, you'll never catch me!

In regard to a-arms and shocks. Roll Design and Custom Axis. Get a Roll Design Lobo II Motocross kit for the Raptor. That should only set you back about another 4 Grand. Make sure that you get them with chromed upper arms.
