Rubimudder07,
If you are buying new I would also consider the new Suzuki Z400 coming out very soon (few months). It is a pure sport quad with a 400, 4 valve liquid cooled engine. It is a 5 spd and has reverse, unlike most of the other sport quads(400ex,Banshee). It should be priced around the same as a Honda 400ex. I have a Kawasaki Lakota sport and like it a lot, but it is too heavy to be competitive (445lbs). I am thinking of trading it in on a 300ex or Warrior because these are the only sport quads with reverse in my price range. Good luck and research the quads before you make your decision.

I have a 300ex and it wheelies great...but as before me said...you might want to wait and see what the z400 is like...but if you are in a hurry I would prob. go with the 400ex unless you need reverse of course...honda's are very relibe and are as high maintance

Go with the 400ex if you don't care about reverse. I just bought one a month ago after riding 4x4 atv's for the past 5 years, and this bike is by far the most fun quad I've ever owned. I had a 96 warrior, and it doesn't even compare. My 400ex wheelies very easy. It's almost effortless. The raptor also does wheelies very well. The main reason I stayed away from the raptor is that it's so Freak'n Loud. I was at the dunes yesterday, and those raptors sound like helicopters when they go past you. There were times when I was watching drag races that I wished I had ear plugs. Anyway...my 400ex does great in the trails, snow, and sand. I weigh 220, so if it can handle me, I think it would be a great quad for anyone.

RubiMudder07,
I would wait till you get to test drive the new Suzuki before deciding anything. From what's known so far, the performance will be between the 400EX and Raptor. May even be better than both. We just have to wait and see.
Ohio,
That idea of yours about the 250X isn't far fetched. I run a hare scramble race a while back on my 250X and smoked nearly all the big bores in my class. I managed to get third place despite a 5 minute down time in the woods after I got stalled. The kickstarter wouldn't turn out for me to kick it.LOL My 250X is totally tricked out. Just put a set of WP shocks on the front a few weeks back. Got it out yesterday for a spin and now love it almost as much as the bigger bikes. Know how to hook me up with a sponsorship with WD-40??
It's not how much power you have. It's how you use the power available.

i think a well ported 250x bored to say 340cc's with all head goodie's would run with a piped raptor. if not i feel atlest it would have huge amounts of bottom end and mid range power.which is really all i care about i do tight path's and hill's 90% of the time.im just woundering how much im gonna miss the handleing of my r hey knowsalot your a 250x kinda guy what's the overall feel of a 250x with a 2 plus swing arm and some respectable shock's iv only rode one and it was just cammed piped and bored 20 over

I'd buy the Cannibal, you can catch dealers offering these for less than $6500 and some dealers are selling demo units for less than $6K with full warranty. Nothing compares to the power of the Cannondale's, they will blow away any stock 400EX and Raptor. The 400EX would be your best choice for doing wheelies on.
