I have a 6x8 trailer and want to sell it and buy a trailer that will fit 2 ATVs with no problem. Any suggestions as whether to get a double snowmobile trailer, a single or dual axle trailer, a large landscaping trailer? What is the ideal size to haul 2 machines, length wise? Thanks

 

Pete,can you drive them over the side? Putting them sideways. They should fit that way. My trailer is 6'6"x10 and I have more than 2 feet left and I know I could spare 3" from either side.

 

I have a 5'X13' trailer. It's called a quad hauler. It's perfect & pulls great. I can send you a pic of it if you want.

 

I have a 5 x 13 trailer, also. It has an expanded metal floor with two additional pieces of 3" angle iron added underneath where the quad tires rest. The floor won't rot like wood and is nice as the mud runs off onto the ground and not onto the trailer floor.

 

Somebody I know took a jetski trailer they got really cheap.Welded up some crossbars for support on it and welded some metal grate on the top of it. It didn't cost him a whole lot either

In NY you should be able to get a snowmobile trailer pretty easily. I took three snowmobile tracks and screwed them to the bed. This provides excellent traction when loading (the trailer tips up).

I guess some of the disadvantages are that it is wide, and not covered. Whereas a Wells Cargo trailer is covered and deluxe, but 3 or 4 times the price.

The sled trailer is pretty light too.

I've got a 6'x10' single axle with a 12" rail around the edges. I rebuilt it from the ground up, then threw on a Diamond Plate fifth wheel tool box up front. The box cuts me down to about 8 feet of useable bed space, however if you would like to keep your trailer for other uses as well, you can fairly easily and inexpensively modify a rack for the top of the trailer, and actually sit two atv's sideways across the top, with the space underneath for other gear, such as camping equipment, tools, etc. if need be.

However, if you really want to sell your trailer if favor of a true four-wheeler trailer, a company called "Rough Country Cycle", or something like that-I can't remember exactly, makes atv trailers that hold two, three, or four atv's side by side. They have 4' ramps on both sides of the trailer, so that you can drive up one side, then drive strait off the other side if you want. The two unit model is a single axle with a mesh bed and runs for right around $1,200. If this interests you, let me know, and I can get you the name of the company and where you can reach them.
