450es Ground Clearance
#1
I went riding this past weekend with my father, who recently purchased a 2000 Grizzly. I was impressed with the ground clearance on that machine.(10 1/2") My question is: Does anybody know what kind of clearance I can get with a highlifter kit in conjuction with 27 vamps? Anyone with the same setup, please let me know.

I dont have that setup, but I know just adding the vampires to my 300 honda increased my ground clearance by about 2inches probably a little bit more. Correct me if I'm wrong but the lift kit only lifts the frame not the whole atv. I think the highlifter one will increase your axle clearance in the front but that is it. The lift kit is basically to make room for bigger tires.

A lift kit will not increase your axle clearance at all. It merely raises the body of the quad higher so that larger tires will fit under the fenders. The added clearance comes from the larger tires. I don't see how it would add any clearance to the front either.

I have a Highlifter kit on my 300. It does not lift the axle in the rear, it only lifts the body. BUT, it DOES lift the front end up. When you jack up the front of the ATV, and disconnect the shocks, the front wheels droop down. The parts are inserted between the shock and shock mount and when you let the jack down, the center sits higher-like doing a pushup. Does that non-technical installation description
make sense? It really helped me to stop high-centering so soon in deep ruts. I have 25" vampires on 12" ITP steel wheels. If you ride in mud and ruts, I think you will like it. It is easy to install.

Old Yellow,
I have a yellow ES and a Grizzly, both with the Highlifter lift kit and 27" Vampires. I don't recall what my total ground clearance is on the Foreman, but at the frame near the footpegs you will gain right at 3". You will only get an extra inch of clearance at the back axle-your getting that from the Vampires. You should get about 2" extra at the front skid plate. These measurements are with about 5-8psi in the tires. You can gain an extra inch at all locations by using 40 psi in your Vampires - they will grow to about 29" but the ride will be less than comfortable. If your Dad leaves his Grizzly stock, your Foreman should have more ground clearance. My Foreman still makes it through more than the Grizzly just due to the shorter wheel base and lighter weight. Hope this helps.
