Lighting on the Polaris Sportsman 700
#1
I am wanting to put more lighting on my Sportsman 700. I have considered buying additional lights for the front and a back-up light, but was wondering if I could just replace the stock low beams with aftermarket lights that are brighter? Has anyone done this or thought about it? Either way, I need more lighting. Thanks!! Also, how hard is it to get both low beams and high beams on at once?

A much less costly method is what I used which was previously posted on this sight. If you want to see the original post just do a search on lights. Here is a brief explanation. Go to Radio Shack and purchase two three amp diodes(rectifiers). Twist them together making sure the stripe on the diode is on the same side of the diodes when twisted together. Remove the front hood and locate the green and yellow wires in the conduit. The easiest place to find them and do the mod is directly behind the top of the radiator. Remove a small amount of insulation from the green and yellow wires and splice in the diodes from yellow to green wire with the stripe(open side of diode)connected to the green wire. Solder and tape the connections and your in business. All three lights will now come on when the switch is on high beam and just the lows when the switch is on the low beam position. The diodes cost $1.49 for a pack of two and the job takes appx. twenty minutes to accomplish. It is easier if you remove the front rack. I did this mod to my SP700 about one month ago and it works like a charm.
