I recently helped a friend install the HPD reed conversion kit on his trailblazer. We are having alot of trouble getting this thing to accelerate right from the bottom. mid is good top is good. But right off the bottom this thing will fall on its face. I am lost. all the money all the time, Any suggestions would be helpfull..

I had the same problem had no bottem end. I redesigned the conversion and have so much bottem end I have to drop the rear spocket to a 34 tooth. Now it runs good all the way from bottem to top. You probibly got the trail port. even the race port bogs at the bottem a little. Hows the fit with the carb and the tranz? Is it hitting?

washington 400,

Hmm, it sounds like the carb slide is too rich or too lean (I'm betting too rich). This is usually the problem just off of idle. Also you could play with the Jet needle, but that's further up in the RPM range.

Just out of curiosity, what carb are you running? If it's the standard carb (Mikuni VM30SS), then there isn't much you can do. You could try to find a richer or leaner slide. If it's the Kehin 35mm PWK then there should be a different slide for it. You could try Sudco Motorcycle parts. They should have the richer or leaner slide. Like I said before, also check out the needle. I had the same problem with my 39mm PWK on my Sport. Great throttle response in the mid to upper RPM range, but down low it bogs down. Move the clip on the needle up (leaner) or down (richer) and see if this helps.
