My rancher manual says to use 2 liters when changing the oil...however at the back of the manual it says that the oil capacity is 2.5 liters....why the difference?

I don't have a rancher, but generally you cannot get all of the oil out of the machine because a certain amount stays in the oil cooler and lines. Just add the 2 liters and check your oil level from there.

I agree with 3M GC. I too did the same thing adding 2.5 quarts and yep I had to drain some out via drain plug, too bad I got it all over my hand, ground while dropping the bolt, lol, then holding my finger on the hole and searching for the d@mn bolt so that not to waste the expensive GN4 juice !!!!

moral of story dont remove plug with good oil !!!!

now that you mention the brand of oil, you reminded me of something....i hear a lot about using oil with additives....my dealer tells me to use honda 4-stroke oil while the bike is still under warranty (the brand recommended in the manual is different for the US and Canada - might be the same oil but just labelled different)....he says i am not to use oil with additives or it will void the warranty....there right on the bottle is lists an additive...can't remember what it is right now, but i'll check when i go home this evening.
