I find a lot of my buddys asking everybody what they should bring on a trail ride wheather long or short.

Sport quad: backpack, spark plug and spark plug tools, and an extra pair of socks, gloves, helmet, goggles, rubber boots(waterproof)

Utility quad: front rack bag, then put all this stuff in it: lunch, spark plug, spark plug tools, socks, spark plug tools, rope, atv cover, walkie talkie&xtra batteries, old shoes, water bottles, coat, small knife... i think thats a lot of stuff, have fun getting all that fitted into the front rack bag.

Back rack: extra gas, tarp, tent, tools, rubber boots.

Other accessories: winch is the most usefull thing you can have when your stuck, tire patch.

Small trail rides(5&under miles): spark plug&spark plug tools, rope, lunch, winch, coat, rubber boots&socks.

One of the most annoying things in the world are wet socks in squishy rubber boots!

 

Don't forget beer! J/K

I should probably carry a first aid kit, but don't...

 

Don't forget the tow strap, unless all the quads that are going are Hondas!

Good lists. I'd add cell phone, come-along if no winch, enough tools in a small package to fix what have you, a pump or canned air for after you patch your flat. Oh yeah, and some of that stuff you drink that turns your urine into gasoline.

With these items, which will all fit into a fanny pack, there will be no situation that you aren't ready for.
[The rope can be used as a winch if you wrap it twice around the rear axle
and connect it to a tree.]
Trust me, it's the fastest winch out there. Don't know if I would want to do that to a quad with IRS though....LOL

Great axle/rope tip knowsalot! My son is always stuck in the mud at least once per trip. Less now that I've quit helping him[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

The rope/axle winch was something that I picked up from a guy back in the early '80s. If ATV size winches were made then, I still don't think the little 110's would haul them around with a rider.

I saw a couple years ago that a company actually makes a spool that clamps on your axle and makes this idea more practical. Wish I had thought of doing that back then.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

 

When is enough a enough. My wife and I ride double and sometimes travel by ourselves. We have a Tarmac trunk and its loaded with gear. I might leave something out but will try not to:
Comealong, shovel, hatchet, two pair of sweats, socks, extra gloves, rain gear, ski masks, water proof matches, first aid kit, zip ties (three sizes), spark plug, tools, fire extinguisher, plastic sheet (8' X 8'), thermal blakets, one million candle power spot light , cell phone, 357 magnum, box of ammo, extra goggles, 20 co2 cartriges and tire fill tool, alot of tire plugs, knife, rope, toe strap, biodegradeable (camping) toilet paper, towel, garbage sacks, napkins, two Coleman six pack coolers, (one for food and one for drinks), maps, compass, sun screen, nasal spary, eye drops, chap stick, extra ignition key, fuses, duct tape, (you knew that though), electrical tape, and I think that might be it.

We went 1500 miles last year and we are at it again this year. I keep up on my maintenance and have have not had a problem yet. Love the new Goodyear Mudrunners, love the Rubicon. It hauls both of us and our gear effortlessly everywhere.
