Same here.

We usually have a couple already serviced in the parking lot so that guys can ride them around to get a feel for the Cannondales, but a customer wanting to buy one always gets one out of the crate.

We do sell the test ride quads in the parking lot, but for hundreds of dollars less than one in the crate. These become great buys when money is tight.

No one buys a quad that hasn't been ridden. Even after they come from the crate, you can't leave without us riding it first. Liability prevents us from doing that. That's policy no matter where you buy.

icav, knowsalot, whoever

My dealer is All-American wheels in Southington Ohio. They have this check list that they go through with checking the bolts and it includes them riding it for the break in time, changing the break in oil and filter, putting in maxima 10-40. They said they found when they first starting selling fx400 that alot of people wouldn't break them in properly, so they started doin this to cut down on them having potential problems. I KNOW that my speed was brand spankin new cuz I had to wait two weeks for it to come in and don't get me wrong even though they broke it in, it looked brand spankin NEW like it was just out of the crate. They also went through EVERYTHING with me for about 45 minutes about changing the oil, the bolts, transmission, air filter...etc. I even threw some questions at them about the chain slide, new exhaust and such and they seemed knowledgeable on these things as well.

I thought this to be very weird dont get me wrong, but man was it nice that I could pick it up and go riding right away, plus they do the break in openly so ultimately this makes them responsable if something wasn't done right and I am sure I would have a case with cannondale.

I am not too worried though, at this dealership it is the owner, his head mechanic which went over everything with me, another mechanic that races a sweet cannibal and a finance lady, so it wasn't some 15 kid that broke it in at some huge dealership.

I am with ICAV on this one. I don't want anyone on my new quad thats being paid for with my hard earned cash. I would be fine with being in attendance while the machine is being broken in though. Don't want someone unnessarily flogging my machine...unless it's me..haha.

I totally agree with icav about not wanting dealers to ride their machines. I certainly didn't trust the dealer where I bought my Raptor from. The owner of Team Bozeman Motorsports (Bozeman, Montana) is a shady character, and I heard lots of bad stories about him before I went and bought my machine. I had no choice, he was the only close dealer. But, anyways, the point of my story is I caught him using the new machines and then trying to pass them off later as brand new...

One day I stopped at the dealership to get some oil and filter for my Raptor, and he was loading a brand new Raptor and FX400 onto a trailer. He said that he was making a trip to St. Anthony's to check the quads out. He said that they were his personal machines. Well, the next week I went back to the dealership, and there were those same two machines, back on the showroom!!! At close inspection even revealed some sand in hard to reach places!!! What a crock of $hit! Right then and there I decided never to buy anything new from that place again. I trust no dealer...

I had the same experience when I was looking for a new Raptor. I went down to a dealer in Rexburg and was looking at the only raptor they had. I asked the usual performance questions, and then the salesman tells me a story about how he had this very machine down at the local fairgrounds racing it and how it was a great wheelie machine. my next question was so are you selling it used. the answer was no. That my friends is screwed up. I can inderstand a dealer needing to ride the machine to make sure there is not something wrong and the machine will not blow up like a bomb in some pore souls crotch, but racing a brand new quad for a day or two and trying to pass it by as new is messed up. Needless to say I ended up bying one in Idaho Falls.

Mine was also already broken in when I recieved the quad. They broke it in, and went down through the check list, changed the oils, and what have ya. I see no problem with this. It's not like they're going to beat the **** out of it. Duh, they're a dealer and you can't rip on it for the first hour anyway! They know what the heck they're doing...
