I have a 400 Sport w/ 4 gal tank. How far can I go on a full tank? I relize it's hard to judge because it depends on how rard I ride, but the only ridding I've done so far is in the woods by my house. I fill up before I go every time. Same with the oil. How far will the oil go? I want to know cause I'm going on a long trip, and I don't know if I need to carry extra gas or oil. Thanks

99 400 Sport

 

I have a 1996 Sport 400L and I purchased one of those fuel cap gauges from Polaris. It is very inaccurate. However I was out riding last sunday and this is what I found.

The tank was full and we rode for approx 3 hrs on trails, no stopping,but power sliding and spinng the wheels quite a bit.

I figure I went about 70 Km's, about 50 miles. The fuel cap gauge read empty. I figure there was about 1 to 1.5 gallons left in the tank. Therefor my assumption would be that I could have traveled 100 kms easily on a tank. Approx 75 miles.

Good luck. In my personal experience always carry extra gas.

yes, about 75 miles per tank is about right depending on how hard you ride. I thought something was wrong with the scrambler 400 I was riding when I found this out. Becuase, the tank on that thing is about 4 gallons of gas and on my blaster it is only 2.4, but I can put on 60 miles easy with my blaster per tank of gas.

 

My daughters 97 Trailboss 250 2 stroke will get approx 125kms per tank with moderate to fast riding.

 

My 99 will go over 70+ miles on 4 gallons of gas.

 

My SC500 won't do much better than 15 miles per gallon. The tank being a small 3.3 gallon, I ALWAYS carry extra. Especially since I ran out the first two times I went out.
