I can get the Freedom (red/white and blue, front and rear bumpers, tires that the SP 700 has, rack xtenders, chrome wheels)dealer throws in a polaris cart, polaris jacket, oil, cover for same price as the reg. 500 HO's - good deal or should I step up to the SP 700 or extra $400.00 without the cart?
I rode both and I can live with the less power, power is nice to have if you need it and resale maybe better on the SP 700 - this model 500 is limited model just as the Richard Petty model is.
Thanks Steve

You forgot to say how much $ for the freedom. My oldest son (31 yrs old), has a freedom edition and I have a sp 700. Youngest son (29 yrs old) has an 02 500 H.O. yellow. He paid 5651.00 plus tax for the freedom. NO freight, only a 15.00 doc. fee. Dealer also threw in a 2000 lb. warn winch. The dealer was at war with another dealer close by at the time. You'll never match that price again, not around here anyway. SP 700's around here are selling for 6999.00 plus tax, doc. fee, and most of the time 150.00 freight. Regular 500 h.o's for 5999.00. With all that being said, BUY THE FREEDOM EDITION! I know I'll probably get some feedback from other 700 owners but that is my opinion. Resale is terrible on the 700, around here anyway. I was so disgusted with my 700 at one time, I checked on a deal trading it on a 660 grizz. Yamaha dealer called the same polaris dealer that I bought it from ( to get a trade in value) and was quoted a trade value of 5175.00 for the 700 and that was only if it was in MINT condition. Needless to say, I still have the 700. I have since gotten most of the problems corrected with my 700 and I,m a little happier with it. The 500 h.o will do everything that the 700 will do and use a lot less fuel doing it. The 700 is quicker but not a whole lot. Faster is not that important to me anyway. I would not buy another 700 until it has been out for another year or two. I feel the 500 has been around for a while and is JUST ABOUT bullet proof. I sould say that the COST of gas for the 700 is not an issue but finding gas stations in the middle of no where IS. I did see an 02 500h.o in spruce green, rawhide tires, chrome wheels, red A-arms and springs, red tow hook and front and rear rack extenders. That got my attention. Only 200.00 more than the standard 500 h.o.. Long post but I hope I helped you out some. I hope your happy with whatever you choose. I should say that between the three of us, we have owned 7 polaris atv's. Five 500's, 1 700 and one 400 explorer. Not bragging or anything but the picture on them has pretty well come together. Good Luck!

I am on my second 500HO and could not be happier! My 2001 rolled down a hill and was totaled so I bought the silver HO (limited edition) which has the 700 chrome rims and tires. I like the Rawhide tires better than the stock HO tires so I would recomend the limited edition. Mine was the same price as all other colors and the OD green (like my 2001) is no longer offered. I rode the 700 and prefer the 500. I have one very large suggestion........BUY INSURANCE!!!!!!!!! It got me a new quad after I rolled my 2001 down a hill with money left over!

I think that just fromt he looks of the Freedom you should get that. That would be something that would turn heads on the trails. Patriotism is definitely worth it.
