300EX FASTER THAN SCRAMBLER 400
#2
I've owned a 300EX with DG pipe, K&N Filter and Dynojet ... and I now own a 97 Scrambler 500... trust me, the Scrambler IS faster.. I put my little brother who has no quad experience on the Scrambler and me on the EX... every once awhile, I could get out on him, usually because he was scared to nail it right off the line. But, when he did, I could do nothing to catch him.
BUT, in jumping situations, or carving up tight wooded trails... the EX is faster.

I would have to agree with mudmachine. If racing in a strait line, stock vs. stock. the Scrambler is faster.
Racing down the trail or on a mx track. Stock vs. stock, the EX is faster.
It's hard to punch it from 0 on an EX because it will flip over. It has a very light front end and manual clutch. The "heavier" front end and auto on the Scrambler allow you to just floor it and go.
People that enjoy trail riding and playing in the mud. The Scrambler is for you.
People that enjoy trail riding and racing around on small sport quad. The EX is for you.

Actually you can't just punch a Scrambler off the start unless you like riding on the grab bar
For MX riding I would take the 300EX. There seem to be alot of hopped up 300's at the closet track to me. But for everything else there is no comparison, the Scrambler is way better. The mags can say whatever about how great the 300EX is in woods & I know for a fact it is a great quad, but I'd rather "work" just a little harder and ride the Scrambler with it's 4WD, better reverse procedure & a hell of a lot more muscle if you should need it.
Just my opinion, The Scramblers aren't as hard to ride as everyone makes them out to be. Unless you are a midget or something
