I recently learned how to align a front end on my 500 auto and found it to make a significant difference in handeling and steering. Factory settings are very poor. Toe out is very important for a 4X4. I simply measured the distance between the mold seam on the front of the front tire and the back of the front tire. There should be at lease 10mm to 15mm more measurement on the front than the back giving the necessary toe out. Too much and the front tires wear quickly to little and the steering feels like the quad wants to roll. You have to loosen the jam nuts on the tie rods and turn the tie rod until you get the desired toe out.

The quad steer better now where it wanted to plow before.

Has anyone else done a front end alignment?

Newcatman, reading on here and in my manual the say you need 6.4mm or 1/4" more toe in not out. Yes I checked mine before the winch and it was on the money. Think I might need to check it now though since I added a winch a couple weeks ago. If you found out that toe out is better I would like to hear why. Since all cars truck are set up with a specific amount of toe-in. If need help howler real loud and I see if I can send you the procedure.

THANKS for the info Cummins, I was thinking why toe out? This past weekend I notice that my new 500i would pull to the left or right on every small bump, which got me thinking the bikes alignment had be in toe out, instead of haveing toe in , for it had no stable direction, or it can be the dunlop tires? I going to check the alignment first. 1/4 inch toe in.. Thanks again..

I work for a Honda dealership and all the Hondas and Kawi's 4X4 require toe out. In fact the Rubicon has to be realligned to 15mm toe out upon delivery. I assumed the Cat was no different. Thanks for the info. Cummins thank for the info. I wanted people to know that the factories don't really perform an accurate alignment on any 4X4.

I'd appreciate it if you would post your allignment proceedure I don't like the proceedure we use.

Thanks for the replys.
