I'm getting a '00 Honda Rancher about 3/16-17 and it weighs about 550 lbs. What size trailers are you folks using to tow your ATV's. Northern has a 5x8 expanded metal with a wood floor for $630 & tax, 12" wheels, 2000lb. capacity. I've looked at tons of trailers from 500.00 to over a grand. There are differences in tire sizes and capacity, but not really enough to make me get a more expensive trailer. But I do want to get enough. I have a need to have a "relatively" light trailer as I will be towing it with the ATV over muddy fields to hunt geese.
ALL suggestions appreciated. THANKS!!

I would certainly reccomend a trailer with 15"wheels if you intend towing it thru any serious mud for any distance not only for the clearance you'd have but to minimize the packing up of the wheels and immobilizing them, as you would with small wheels. Also the smaller wheels generate lots of heat in hot weather, leading to tire & bearing failure.
I use a 14'box trailer by Wells Cargo, but it sounds like that is not what you'd need.

I just bought a trailer from Home Depot for $422.00 out the door. Only has 8" wheels, but plenty of room for larger, I found 12" & 13" for about $30 wheel and tire on internet. Sure you can find some at local parts store, junk yard with same bolt pattern. Has 2500 lb. capacity, tilt bed, nice and strong. Also includes one year warraty, not sure how long warraties are from other companies. I suggest looking around, it took me 3 weeks to find one. Hope this helps.

ya definatly go with the larger tires. the smaller tires on the "snowmobile" trailers generate too much heat at highway speed 65+. go with 15 or bigger. plus you'll have more ground clearance if you take it off-road.
