you might try changing sprocket sizes to increase bottom, but that way you loose some top end. have you tried a jet kit, that might not even help but its an idea.

Personally, i own a 400ex and i'm very pleased with its power and speed, but where i ride theres not hardly any sand, mostly hard dirt and small rock(Illinois). That(i think is its terretory)

Also if they are a 2000 model the throttle is more than likely misadjusted so your only getting about 65% of the power.

As far as sprokets and websites you can just go out and get an issue of dirtwheels and flip through ads!

Good luck! and Happy Riding!

Go up one step on the pilot jet. According to June 1999 4-Wheel Atv Action, this will help low-end power and starting. The 400EX is a little lean off the bottom.

Your only just starting down the road to true Honda power.Yes stock can be a tease.

1 st start with a pipe and jet kit with holes in the air box, That will get you about 30% more. From 27 hp to about 34 hp.

And then go to engine mods, Some shops are quickly aproching 50 hp.

As quick as you think you are now,Done by the right people, You can be twice as quick!! Food for thought.
