Just to let you know, the aftermarket brakes for the 02 griz DONT EXIST! They have a part number for it in the catalog's but they are wrong. I have just now went through what Lsnake went through. The dealer didnt know about it, just like i none of us. I am hoping that i save alot of you some time in finding rear brake pads for you griz. The only ones that are out right now are through Yamaha and as you know, they are expensive. 40$ for the one set.

I have heard of someone that was getting the material for making their own pads...if anyone knows WHERE and a # to call....please post it. I think that making your own, would be the cheapest way to replace the pads.

I am heading to the autoparts store tomarrow and will let ya'll know what i find.

Hope to help.

Someone over at HL's forum posted the front brakes are the same as the Raptor. EBC FA84R Maybe you can at least make sure the front has good pads!

frogman,

as you well know, i also have had that problem on the rear pads on my grizzly. i ordered them through 3 companys, all wrong part! as of right now, the only pads you can buy are from yamaha, and they cost $41.99
the company that makes break pads for quads, (forget there name) is making them as we speak, and should be on the shelfs in a month or 2. meanwhile, i would make sure your neighborhood dealer stocks stock rear pads, couse the wait can be weeks.

Jonathan, Unless you ride like we do, in allot of mud and stuff, your pads are probably fine. The sandy mud up here get in there and you really have to clean them up good to get it out. My kodiac was the same way, If your gonna play your gonna pay$$$..

Lets ride this weekend. I have been so busy at work, Were renting the front half of the building to a parts company Been moving crap all week. I will try to give you a call tommorrow.
