I purchased 26"x9" and 26"x12" mudrunners for my 650 several months ago. My buddy, after seeing the extra wide 12" tires on the rear of my machine, immediately purchased a set of 26" 589 M/S's for his 650 to replace the stockers. Since we have put them on, we hadn't had time to test them out...until this past weekend. My dad's 650 still had the factory flip flops on...it looked pathetic and timid next to ours. But that changed yesterday, when he had 26" Dirt Devils put on that I purchased for him for fathers day. The following is just FYI about these machines.

Mudrunners: The 26x9 and 26x12 are quite beefy. The rears provide good rim protection as the rim is recessed by about 1" into the tire. These tires have big lugs with center pads on each and are pretty aggressive looking. They function very well, front tires provide easy steering, I get a little low speed chatter but that disappears after 5 mph. They are riding very stiff right now, but I think the 5.5 psi of air in them is causing this stiff ride...I'm actually used to it now. They bite well on the trail, and powerslide as easy as the stockers...however, the mud is where they really shine. They just hook up and carry right through the mud effortlessly. I was going through slop in 2wd and the machine was plowing through it, without slippage, like it was in 4wd. I was amazed. I pushed and pushed it, but finally got it stuck in 2 places both times because I high centered on something I couldn't see. They don't hook up great on hardpack, as low range wheelies tend to get the rear tires spinning first before they hook up, but do well none-the-less.

589 M/S: These tires, 26x9 and 26x12 provide excellent stability and traction, and are as beefy and aggressive looking as the Mundrunners. Powerslides aren't as easy due to extra all around traction, but achievable. They were ok in the mud, not as well as the mud runners, but provide good traction. The hardpack is where these tires really did well. With low range wheelies the tires hooked up immediately on almost every try (50% of the time with the mudrunners). Excellent performing tire on hard pack, not the greatest mud tire but worked well anyway. Got stuck twice in some goey mud but we pushed these tires to the extremes as well.

Dirt Devil XTs: These tires, 26x10 and 26x12 were just put on yesterday and won't be trail ridden until the end of next week. However, they are SUPER smooth riding around and turning. Smoother than stock IMO. Due to the tread pattern, excellent hardpack traction is expected with limited mud capabilities. Drawback: These tires are at least if not 1.5 inches, shorter than the 26 mudrunners or the 589's. Although they are 26", they are the same size, if not smaller, than the stock flip flops. However, these are sure to be WAY better than the stock crappers.

Overall 650 performance: Absolutely unbelievable. We all can't say enough about them. We can't get over how these machines handle, how much power they produce, and how you feel invincible running these things through the woods. Trails, hardpack, mud, blazing own trails, hills. These quads are unstoppable. A portion of a trail that we normally ride was submerged with standing water. It was approximately 250-275 yards long and we weren't sure how deep it was. We went through it anyway and soon found that it was over the front racks in the middle. The front almost went under (top of front rack was about even with the water level) but when it did it seemed to float/bob for a second allowing the rear tires to bite and keep the front up in the air out of the water. Basically keeping the entire front end up out of the water like a bow of a boat. Also took the forum advice and ran the machines in 4 low when on slow trails...it made a world of difference in riding.

All in all...I can't wait to get back out there next week.

PS...I have some video footage, coming through the washed out trail and some stuck footage. If anybody wants it, or has a website to keep it on, let me know. I also get some pics up today at http://photos.yahoo.com/Parker650.

I thought my DD's are shorter than the dunflops. I put stock size on, but cannot make a good comparison because the flops are off the rim now. I probably should have gone to 26 inchers.

Anyone want some stock size dirt devils? cheap

Nyroc,
After your description of the Sur Traks, I put them on the back of my wife's Recon. Very impressive tires (wish I hade em on my Prairie)

jlpier, yup I like the sur tracks a lot. I stronly suggest going with 26" mudrunners on the front and 26" surtraks on the back as a good all around tire, leaning toward dry performance.

-I got really good dry performance (better than stock, mudrunners).
-Very light (lighter than all mudrunners, lighter than devils)
-A little bit more clearance than stock.
-Not bad in the mud (not as good as all mudrunners, but I got another set of mud tires)

Hey Parker, I got your videos posted on my site, along with one other I had.

It is only a download page thingy I whipped up, nothin fancy. Check out the
