Hi LackDog,

I will be an owner of a 2003 Kawasaki Prairie 650 V-Twin in October. I will be looking for a set of wheels and tires for my new machine.

Those are some nice looking wheels and tires. How does it handle on the trail? Can you do powerslides and wheelies with these tires? How are they in the mud?

Thanks,

IronBear

Looks real nice. How come you stayed with stock size tires?

Nice rig. Looks like it's straight out of the crate. What do you use to wash the plastic? What do you have around the bars? Get that thing dirty, it's making the rest of us look bad. hehe.

I stayed with the stock tire size because I wanted performance to remain as close to the way it was with the stock tires (Acceleration, speed, performance, weight). The new tires and rims are about 40 pounds heavier than the stock tires and rims. I didn't want to go with a bigger tire though cause as you go bigger the weight gets heavier. I also didn't want to throw the spedo off either.

The thing around the bars is the kawasaki handlebar bag that i bought off of www.buykawasaki.com. I love it. It's great for the digital camera, wallet, keys etc.

How do I keep my bike looking so clean...? HEHE, it's a secret, no i'm just kidding. After I wash it I use Turtle Wax Formula 2001. It's a plastic, rubber, vinyl, etc cleaner with "sun stop" in it. It works awesome...!!! My bike has over 800 miles on it too and it still looks great. I have came back from riding where my bike is so caked with mud you can't even tell what kind of atv it is. After like 4 hours of cleaning it looks the way it does. The turtle wax plastic cleaner makes it easier to clean too after you apply it.

Happy riding

hey lackdog,
i have the same setup on my griz. it is a nice hookup in the mud, but i have recently found that the 589's dig too good in sand. i have kept the stockers to now use while riding the sandy trails. man that quad is clean!!! next time your riding in michigan, and want a few more people to ride with, email me. i can usually get off to ride on short notice. would love to hit some trails with other riders! by the way, great site!!! i want to do that, but i aint too good on these puters, lol. how does one go about starting there own site for pics, story's and so on?

Nice pics Lackdog. When I got my Gators last month I spent 4 hours cleaning my 650 just to take pictures. Then I did not want to ride it at all to keep it clean, however, I wanted to test out my Gators. I think cleaning ATV's is harder than any vehicle.

I may get some new skid plates too. I like your setup.

Good lookers Lackdog. I wonder what they would like like on the green 650? I think they would almost be too bright compared to the dark green and copper machine.

Bike looks great

How are the 589's performing in mud and trail? What width rims did you get? I'm thinking about the Titans for my green bike. At least I think it's green. If I have time to wash, I have time to ride.

Thanks
