I'm buying two Polaris models for my wife and I and plan to get one 2X4 and one 4X4. Will use mostly for trail riding, and the 4x4 trail and for some hunting and utility use. I'm looking at the TrailBoss 325 or Magnum 325 2x4 for my wife and the Xplorer 400, Magnum 325 or 500 4x4 for me. Anyone have input for me on these models?

They are all good machines. I guess my choice would be first what I could afford? Then I would go with the Magnums. From what I have seen you can't go wrong with the Magnum's. The Xplorer 400 is awesome, but it is a two stroke chain drive, I have an Xplorer 250 4x4. i love it, have had no troubles with the chain or the two stroke.

But the Magnums would be less to take care of, than the Trail boss or the Xplorer they both have chains. Though I have had zero trouble with my chain only had to tighten it once in 600 miles.

I have a 2000 Trail boss and it is great so far. It is safe and not going to pop the tires and is easy to handle and maintain. Price was also a big Factor. I plan on getting a Magnum 500 4x4 for myself when I can convince the wife.

I just went through the same thing. I had decided to get a Explorer 400 for my self but could not decide what to get for the wife. After having her test dive every Quad Polaris makes we finally decided to get 2 explorer 400. The reason was all the 4 stokes seemed like dogs compared to the 2 stroke 400. Also the smaller Polaris 250, 325 and 335 are not counterbalance and are air cooled... My wife did not like the vibration with out the counterbalanced engine and air-cooled make me nervous. Also I wanted here to be able to keep up. The 400 really a fun machine to ride. We just got back from our second time out and I am very happy with the choice we made.

I just went through this with my wife. I bought 2 SP500s within one month of each other. She was not too interested when I brought the Green Machine home, but after she rode it, she wanted one too. We went to the local dealer and she picked out a Red one for herself. She really liked the suspension.
