Anyone know of a good source besides a local dealer to buy the FCR 39mm carb? I want to put it on immediately. Price too.

Carb Parts Warehouse (216) 524-1599

and also try

www.sudco.com get the number and ask for Paul.

You do know this carb isn't going to come cheap. My guess around $500 or more.

Let us know how you do.

Depends on your plans.

You can get a generic 39mm FCR for around $400 and up from several places.

However, if you have plans in the future of boosting your rev limit and performance with a DRZ-E CDI, you'll want the carb with the TPS sensor (the aftermarket version won't have this). For this carb, I'd check with some motorcycle salvage yards.

GT Thunder may be able to sell you a kit to retrofit one of the newer style 40mm FCR's like what's used on the CRF450R on your quad, and I believe they include a TPS sensor.

40mm would be good too. I stripped 2 out of 4 screws in the bolw trying to rejet tongiht. Be careful when you do it, they are IN THERE! #@$%@#$^#$^@#^
Man I'm fumming.
I can get it back together and ride it with the stock jetting, and tomorrow I think I'll go buy a Craftsman easyout tool. I think I'll still order the carb with a TPS and gain huge power. Have you seen what the 400S guys are saying about it over on the Thumper board? Huge gains.

hey atc250r, i don't wanna sound ignorant but what does the TPS (throttle position sensor right?)do for the bike? i know the TPS on cars/trucks tells the the ECM the butterfly's position is on the throttle body but since it is carbureted, i can't seem to think of a use for it.

It feeds back to the CDI to control ignition timing.

It allows for a 3D timing map which will improve part throttle response. All your modern 4 stroke MX bikes use this setup (i.e. YZ426F, YZ250F, CRF450R, DRZ400E, etc)

right on, thanks for the info. but since the lt-z originally didn't come with the tps on the carb, i guess we'd have to get the cdi for the drz, right?

Yes, but if you start modifying the LT-Z, you'll want the higher rev limit of the DRZ setup anyhow...

What are the 2 rev limits?

I stripped the crap outta 2 of the bowl bolts with a craftsman "easy out." What a piece of overtorqued $hit.

I'll rip it off and grind the tops of the screws off, remove the bowl and get needlenose pliers on the ends of the screws to draw them out. Meantime, no jetting able to be done. Since I never got iy apart I'll be running the stock jet with no mods. Grrrrr
Looks like time for the FCR39, highly jetted with my pipe, no lid, K&N and whatever else I can think of. CDI?
