First of all, ditch the stock set up and get a Pro Flow,or similar adapter that allows you to use a clamp on,the stock one is known to leak if not put in correctly. As far as the holes, most drill a 1" hole, then put in Uni vents, they press in and have a little foam in them to keep the big chunks out. You can drill as many as will fit, then you will need to jet up a few sizes to make up for the increased air flow. If you want to keep your stock lid hole free, you can buy a Moto-force lid, it replaces your stock lid,has large slots in it for much greater air flow, then you can save your undrilled lid for putting it all back to stock in case you sell it. Just a suggestion, drilling holes is no big deal, some people don't like hacking up all the stock parts. Alba also makes an aluminum air box/lid combo for 130 bucks, replaces the entire plastic air box,and the lid uses baffles to keep most dirt and water out, and is said to flow as much as an unlidded box !! These are a few suggestions, I'm sure other Warrior owners out there can tell you what worked good for them.

Altho you didn't ask, I'm going to say..dump the stock filter first & make your engine happy with a Pro Design filter kit. It is a free standing filter that doesn't rely on the lid to secure it to the intake. This sorry system has been on the Warrior & other Yamahas since the gitgo and has been responsible for many cases of engine damage due to poor sealing against dust, dirt, & sand. Then you can get a transparent vented lid from PowRoll which is vented along the sides to protect against most water entry... except total submersion. The ability to see the condition of your filter makes the purchase worthwhile even without the vents. By sure to re-jet however you decide to increase your air flow!

Does anyone know if the Warrior and Wolverine lids are the same, e.g., will the Powroll lid fit a Wolverine?
