I bought a Scrambler 90 for my 9 year old son about 4 months ago and have had no major complaints so far. We do a lot of trail ridding and some mud slinging. I think that it is a good youth quad.

bought the Scrambler 50 and it keeps-up just fine on the trails.
the two-stroke power provides more than enough power for a 50cc.

mud? don't know.

Not to knock the Polaris minis but when I went shopping for a new quad for my son(he was 9 at the time)We looked at all of the mini s and wee ended up with a 125 Yamahaa Breeze it was a few hundred more but it is 4 stroke, automatic, reverse andd aa real head light.Tthe otherr onee weee liked wass The Bombardier 90 it was 4 stroke too but no reverse or lights(he liked the color better). This Breeze has been the best quad I have it is big enough for the adults yet small enoughh for the little guys.Cody rides this on any trail I take mine on and lots of places most guys wont go.

I'd take them to the local dealers and see which ones fit them the best. I got my then 3 yr old daughter an LT 50 for Christmas after taking her and letting her sit on different makes. I was leaning towards the Polaris 50, but she is small for her age and the Polaris was just too big for her. The Suzuki fits her good and I figure that she should get from 3 - 4 years of riding on it before she's too big. My neice got an SP 90 from Santa as well, she's still 7 and while she is on the small side of being a perfect fit, she was too big for the 50's and would have outgrown one in a year.

Just from my experiences, with them being 10 and 12 that they should fit the Yamaha Breeze good enough. I know your not supposed to consider letting them 'grow into it', but with a purchase this big you should consider how long they will be able to ride one of the 90's before their knees get in the way.

any of the e-ton made quads (including polaris) don't handle mud very well, and have barely any kind of water proofing.
