OK, I useually try to put together a nice little how-to page when I perform a modification to my Raptor in the hopes of helping someone to minimize the "FIRST TIME" syndrome. Well, here it is. Unfortunatly I don't have all the little notes to go allong with the photos (for now). But they will give you an idea what you will be in for if you decide to take this project on.
As I quoted before "It is a freakin' animal" now. It was worth the blood, sweat & tears putting it all back together.

Yes I think it was worth it. I got tired of buying all the bolt-on's hoping to get the WOW!! effect...........but regretably it never came.
I did the pipe thing, the jetting thing, the airbox thing & the sprocket game and I still wasn't where I wanted to be. Don't get me wrong, the Raptor is fast right out of the box. But when you see these smaller engines that are coming out now it just makes you wonder what's going on that I can't run all over these guy's with 200+ cc smaller engines. I think that if Yamaha's stock piston was in the 10.5:1 minimum range there would be absolutly no question on which stock quad (currently) would the best sport quad. Until then we will have to rely on the aftermarket to take care of us.
I hadn't planed on going as far as I did modifing this thing, but once you get started it's hard to stop. I am trying to fight off the urge to buy an old Banshee and rip it down and build it up. I must be strong!!

Dude! Same deal, tottally. I had bought a 400ex for my wife last month, but came super close on a new banshee, only so i could ride the thing. I figured the banshee was a little to much for her and she would only gum the thing up from puting around anyways. Every time I step foot in my garage i wonder what would be the next step. I put some new rubber on it yesterday. Still haden,t got the jetting dialed yet. tomorrow i should have it figured. Last week I decided on the 686 kit but it probably gonna tank a month or so to save the cash. What did it cost you?

No problem. Man this stuff is addicting!! I have some pretty cool video clips that I have shared with "Blue Leader" via CD-ROM. I have a helmet Camera and did some dune riding/racing the other day. I put together a pretty nice video dubbed to music. Too bad I didn't have some way to put that stuff out and make it available for you guys to see.
