I had the grizz standing on the back wheels yesterday grinding some bolts for my plow and I decided to give the front wheels a spin. Heres my question: I was in 2 wheel drive, and the left whell spun freely (as it should) but there was some resistance on the left wheel in the diff. The front drive shaft would move slightly when I spun the left one, and there was a sort of thump noise coming from the diff. (not loud, but there). I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience, and if this is something I should be concerned about. Thanks guys.

the right front wheel on a grizz should feel notchy and the left front spins freely. don't know why but they all do.

Huh. I'll have to do that to see, it sounds like the servo isn't operating in spec??? I've not bought a service manual yet, the grizz's front diff is a mystery to me for now. Is the thump noise susbstantial enough to be like dogs/gears just buzz grinding, or more like sticking from limited slip clutches not fully disengaging in 2wd.?

not sure if this answers it or not, but I think this may help.

I am pretty sure that the front drive line and also gears in the front diff always spin. they "freewheel" when the selection is set to 2wd. the servo then engages the gear set so that power is engaged as the selector is set to 4wd limited slip and 4wd fully locked.

could this noise and resistence when spinning one front tire be all the extra weight of the drive line and gears?

just my thoughts on this post.

I propped mine up and checked the 2wd, and yes one wheel does free wheel quieter than the other. The front left is turning some components(exactly what I still dunno) inside the diff, the front right spins only the halfshaft. (your thumping noise is normal straight cut gear noise.)

Just to help a little more I went out and hooked the winch around a rafter and pulled the front of the Grizz up. Yes mine acts just the way that everyone elses does.
