Is there available a Titanium connecting rod for the Raptor? If so, any info? This would of course go along with other mods like higher compression, larger displacement 686+, cam, etc. Usage...for dunes and open desert riding.

Also, alot of you have gone to stainless valves if the valves are being replaced. Again, why not go to Titanium valves like the YZ426 thumper 5 valve bike? Is is a cost issue or availability issue???

If you haven't noticed if have a thing for Titanium (maybe switch to Yoshi for it...)

Seems like TI can be short lived. There are plenty of ways to reduce weight in the motor.

why would the Ti rod be short lived over a forged steal one? What other ways can you lighten the Raptor's motor spinning weight, drill the crank? billet rockers? More rrrrs can mean more hp or more efficiency and quicker revving.

If you want a quicker revving Raptor, DESTROKE IT!! I have been thinking about buying a motor by itself and having this done. Compare the stroke to other machines out there, the Raptor has by far the longest stroke!

a different direction to go....destroking it?
If you've been thinking about this what would you destoke it to and what benefits besides quicker revving would you expect? I want to go bigger cc and build up the spinning efficiency and gain hp/torque and by using titanium which is lighter and stronger than the steals I could achieve this with the longer Raptor stroke.

I have the Ti con rod -- a nice piece but the price is hard to swallow. On the valves, using Ti on the intake. Ti exhaust is ok for short life motors or alky motors. Ti exhaust valves do not like the major thermal changes found in gas motors and they tend to get longer with time. If yo uwant to run them, plan on making custom valve guides and installing new valve seats. As for rockers I am working on Ti roller rockers. With any luck, they will be in a motor with a special ramp cam very soon. I run Ti on the intakes and Stainless on the exhaust -- just like NASCAR.

On the shorter stroke, it is being done as we speak.

Lets just say a rod and valves is good for a couple of expensive horsepower. One thing you need to remember -- As you make a 4 stroke's rotating mass lighter (especially on the Craptor), you will substantially increase the number of times that the engine will stall under low rpm high load conditions. If you are running on tight wooded areas or tight tracks, this might not be the plan for you.
