What is the color combination on it? What do the stickers on the tank look like? Lastly does it have an aluminum frame or a steel one? Didn't you check on the steering stem? Usually there's a sticker on there that says the model year. You could get the VIN number off the engine or the frame and have your dealer tell you what it is or you could just ask Knowsalot and he'd be able to tell you.

In 1979, Honda adopted the same alpha designation system used to determine the year model that the DOT uses for automobiles.

The "code" is the 10th character of your serial number, which is on the steering head of the frame. The serial number is 17 characters long.

Here are the codes for 1990-2000 to help you figure out which year it is that you have.

L=1990
M=1991
N=1992
P=1993
R=1994
S=1995
T=1996
V=1997
W=1998
X=1999
Y=2000
