Northern Alberta Dune Ride
#1
Going to Six lakes dunes on Thurs. Will try to get pics. Three co-workers(01 Raptor,ct pipe, airbox mods,02 Raptor, ported and polished with cam,SP 500) and I are leaving from the Tempo at 7:00AM. Everybody welcome. Should be fun, I'm taking rope so I can pull the Rappies out(hahaha)No doubt I'll get a lesson taught to me on how to ride. But hey I can at least carry the gas.

Who is packing all the gas it's about 75 miles to the dunes riding on sand? Hopefully you don't get rained on. The Six lakes campsite is by far the niciest camp to stay in if your staying the night. You can get maps from Forestry on the 3rd floor of the Provincial Building. Have Fun

Six lakes is about 4 hours North of Fort McMurray. For the most part it's all sand trails and some of the Lakes have sandy beaches. As well there is the Sand Dunes which you cannot ride on but you can ride up to them and walk up and take pics.

Actually there's a special spot that's not protected that I'm getting directions to go up to... I don't know how rough it'll be, but I just came back from the Jackson Lake area right by 6 Lakes, it was pretty tight riding, I left there at 7pm, rode all the way there, and back on my Raptor with a passenger, 4 gal of gas, and made it back by 12:30pm with a few breaks no problem, still had a gal left in the jerry can and never touched reserve.... Nice, can't wait to go back!
