I am working my way on up to HPD's Trail Mod kit. All I need now is porting, bigger carb, and some better reeds.

Problem is I don't know who to go with. I have heard good and bad about both, and then theres the reed spacer issue. I have done some research on both....

1. HPD only sells Delta V-Force.
2. Reeds spacers claim to add power and help reeds last longer.
3. Dyno tests prove that the Delta's produce slightly more power then the Boyesen Rad Valve.
4. Heard from a few that if you don't run a reed spacer on the Delta's that they will not last that long.
5. Boyesen claims more top-end power while Delta's claim more low to mid gain.
6. Both are in the some price range $130-160 depending on who you are dealing with.

So, who's it going to be? Whoever I go with should I get a reed spacer? Do I need one with the Boyesen Rad Valve? Which one lasts longer and have any of you had any problems with either? Thanks.

well man i tried them both, last year was running RAD valve,i now this year i run v-force 2,what i noticed the boyesen "snap" harder at top end and seem to get better powerband, but the v-force are the best about throttle response, they are crisper and quicker,i think both reed system worth the money...
i was always running the reed spacer with both reed cage.

There's a reason Darrell (HPD) only sells v-Force II's. The dyno proves it, run the spacer.

Ken,
Does he really need the spacer?I thought that the spacer was for Big Bores? I have the trail kit without the spacer. Would itbenefit me to get a spacer?Sooooo many questions. HPD or RCR did not say I needed a spacer.

I would say run the spacer. It's only questionable with the big bore kit. Heat and vibration are enemies of composite materials. The farther away from the heat of the combustion process can't hurt.

I have heard that it is suggested to replace reeds yearly. Kinda like dirt bikers re-ringing their pistons every couple races.

Might just save the $30 for the spacer and put it towards new reeds when needed....or maybe porting! smile.
