Walexa had one, but he never gave any feedback on installation, or how well it protected.

Ok guys,

Here's the low-down. The new case saver offered by polaris will not fit pre-2002 models. The right side chain case cover has one of those (if built before, part #...........if built after, part #). The one built after the date has a place cast into it, drilled and tapped for mounting the case saver.

Before you go giving it away, has anyone tried drilling and tapping the trans case for one. Maybe stop by the dealer, take a look at the size and depth of the machine work. If nothing else, couldn't your guard be used as a drill-guide? Try lining it up, put a allen-collar on the drillbit, or even a piece of tape to stop you at the right depth...and be REALLY careful. Just a thought. How much was the piece, and do you still have the part number?

Just some thoughts,
Ken

As thin as the case half is, I doubt you could get away with drilling it. You might could have somebody glob some weld on at the right place, and drill and tap that???

Anyway, the piece is about $7. Go to partsland.com and look for 2002 Xplorer 400 or 2002 Scrambler. Look up gearcase. I say this because I don't have the part # handy.

Cool, thanks Waylan. Might be a winter project.
