I am thinking about purchasing a 250 trailblazer and would like to know if any of you could tell me the top speed of this atv. I race woods racing and I need the bike to run about 65 but more importantly be very quick! If it wont run 65, what are some simple motifications I can do to make it run 65 without spending alot of money? I have been racing a kawasaki mojave and a blaster with a 240 big bore kit so if you would like to compare it to these bikes it might make it easier for me.

Thanks,
liftkit

I have TB '02, bought it in April. My brother-in-law bought one as well(about a week apart). He has put on a clutch kit and a new drive belt, and I haven't noticed any difference.

The stock quad will do roughly 55mph, the take off isn't that sweet. A freind of mine has an older Mojave(not sure on year). His top speed is higher than ours, not sure by how much.

a few weeks ago, at the Dunes in Silver Lake I ran into a kid who had a '00 TB, with ALL the mods. He had nearly every upgrade you could get for it, and when we lined up, he didn't have hardly anything on me. Top-end was all he really had... and even that wasn't alot.

personally, if you are looking for something to hold up with the other 250's... You want to stick with the Mojave, Blaster or maybe even head towards that 250r from Honda, I heard that was bad ***. The weight of the TB will(and has) taken alot from the performance of this Quad. If it were around a 100lbs lighter, it would perform alot better, I think.

This quad is great for riding trails, but for performance, I'm going a different route next year.

You must have a monday quad or somthing. I have a 00 TB250 and its top speed may be 40-45mph. They are a pile and I'd never own another. If its slow trail riding you want you'll get it with the TB.

You probably should look elsewhere if you want to go 65. My TB tops at about 45.

Well how about a scrambler. How would they do and which one would I want: 400 2 stroke or 500 4 stroke. How fast will these bikes run and can they handle woods racing?

Liftkit, my wifes 2000 TB does just under 50 mph, must be mondays model, lol, like some said slow starting, heavy......but if you put a RCR Stage 1 kit you'll get her going mid 50's with something out of the hole also.... the kit runs about $350, you cant beat it for some TB hop-ups....you could probably do the same with other 250's but It'll cost ya more to hit the same speed (250r's not included, lol).

ps If your racing the Mojave would be the cheapest 250 (many years available) have most hop-ups plus its chain driven.

If you want the top end a stock 400 will do it for you. It runs somewhere between 65 and 70. My neighbor has it and we drag all the time. I have the 500 4x4, it ways considerably more. The engines both have a pull on the take off but take a second to actually move. In Grass the 400 beat mine buy 2 lengths. On the road it was about 7. If you dont plan on making any engine mods on a 400 though, its proly a good idea to work on suspension, a-arms, and the axle. It will help with the bumps. Get the hot seat dual rate suspension and the fox struts up front.

Glad to see nobody took my pile comment to heart. Certainly wasn't dissing Polaris in any way.

Liftkit is it Polaris you want? Or any quad to compete with your friends? I'd suggest the 400ex or LTZ400 or even a Raptor for your woods races. If it is a Polaris only kind of thing, I'd wait until the preditors come out and check out one of those. They sound like they are going to be a fast quad. JMO

LIFTKIT,
I would like to say to get a reed conversion kit if you have a
used 250. But you did say that you wanted some simple mods. So thats out.
The price for the kit is high too. Or you could just get a used 400
and forget about the mods! The 400 should already have the higher speed.

I dont want to hurt your feelings, but a raptor is not all that great in the woods. I raced a mojave against the raptor and a bunch of 400ex and the raptor caught hell. The last time I seen it, it hit a tree about 10 feet of the ground. It acted like it was just too narrow or just top heavy through most of the trail. The 400ex did well but like I said there was alot of them!!!
