I drained my oil out of the motor and the oil tank.I had a leak in the bottom of the tank,so i had the seam welded up.I put the tank back on and put one qt. in ,cranked it up and let run for a min.Shut it off put the 2nd qt.in.I only get about 1/2 in and it started to run out the top.I was going to take the plug out of the motor and drain a little. But there was on oil in the case.I pulled the line off going into the motor and oil came out.But its not getting sucked into the motor.Dose the sound like the oil pump aint pumping or could it be something else.could the pump need primed?

Just a suggestion. Did ya put oil in the oil filter?

Try to have oil in the filter, when changing oil to see if that helps.

Check to see if you have oil pressure. On the right side of the engine on the head there is a bolt with like a phillips screw head on it. Fire up your quad and let run for a few seconds. With the machine running loosen the screw until oil starts coming out. If you get oil you have pressure. I would bet that you probably have air trapped some where.

When you do this let it run for a few seconds to let all the air escape. you should also leave your dip stick out. Re-check the level when you are done.

The pump will purge itself. From what you said, sounds like the oil is not getting to the engine. Tank hols about 1.5 qts so no oil went into engine. Be care not to run the engine too long like this or you'll seize your cam.

Remove skid plate and loosen the oil fitting (19mm wrench) on oil line from tank at crankcase at the crankcase. See if oil comes out down there which is direct feed to the pump. Are you sure you didn't stuff something in the bottom of the tank oil line while it was getting welded?

I have the oil pressure check bolt as well on my Bear. I've been using it every time I change my oil because the manual states that I should but I never really saw the sense of it until now.
I've had Hondas in the past and never saw such a thing.
Is losing oil pressure a common thing or is this precautionary?
