I have a 88 Moto 4 that won't run. It has spark and it turns over but for some reason it just won't run. I could be something simple but I'm not sure. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

u may try some new gas, clean the filter, do a compression test, play w/ the carbs make sure nothing is stuck or pluged, or just take it to ur local yamaha shop

Get to the basics, you need 3 things for an engine to run:

Verify that your getting fuel by trying starting fluid directly into the carb while trying to start it. if it starts or fires you know its a fuel problem.

Verify that you are getting spark, take the plug out and inspect it, the let it lay and ground itself on the motor, turn it over and you should see spark (better when its dark)

If you have both of the above and they are good, go for a compression check, either go to pepboys and get your own guage or have the dealer do it.. threads right in where the sparkplug goes

Thanks for the help guys! I cleaned the carb and check for spark, there is spark and it is getting fuel. I'll try the compression test next weekend.

If your compression is up to snuff then you will need to check out your timing. If you have all 3 of the above and the timing is right it has got to run
