Tach install problem
#1
I ordered a tach for my DS from Bombardier. I have however misplaced the instructions. So far I have drilled an 89mm hole in my dash and attached the ground wire to the starter cylinoid stud. I know its a simple install and the wiring should be obvious. But I would rather sand paper a wild cats behind than do anything involving wires. Can anybody here talk me through the rest of this?
Thank you,
Rog

Check your e-mail. I sent the drawing my dealer made up. Please note, I think the drawing is for a Black DS which has the key switch wires switched from that of a yellow DS (I think I remember hearing this somewhere.) I hooked the kit up as shown and my tach light was always on. I think I switched the keyswitch connection to the other wire and that solved the problem.
I also sent to Buttfungus so he could post it on his web site if he wants.
Let me know if you would like pictures and I can try to get some.

I havent had a chance to finish the install, but it looks simple enough. I printed out an 11x17 of it at work so I will get to it hopefuly tonight.... Thanks again..

Great, good luck on the install.
Once I put the rubber washer / grommet thing on the back side of the dash to hold the tach, I put some of the liquid electrical tape around it (dries into a plasticote.) The Tach can move on you, they get a lot of vibration.
Thanks for posting the picture Steve. You are building quite a site.

I have found a tach that is the same size as the one on the Baja that is only $70 or so. The only thing is, it is meant for a vehicle. Can this be adapted to work on a DS? If so I will let everyone know how it goes and where to get it. Cheaper sometimes can be better after all.
