I have a 95 Honda Foreman 400 4x4. It runs great other than it sputtering when it is pinned. It doesn't matter which gear when I have it pinned it sputters then regains sputters then regains. What could be the Problem? What do you guys think on Carlisle Trx Max tires? Thanks for the help!

What do you mean by "pinned"? If you mean wide open, your probably in the rev limiter. I have a '96 and have never experienced this problem on mine. I'm interested to hear the resolution though.

Yes pinned is Wide Open. It was the rev limiter. I would like to know how or if it is possible to adjust the rev limiter. By the way what mod's do you have on your 400? What kind of tires?

I don't have any mods..... Yet... I do plan to lift it a couple of inches, just to gain a little ground clearance. I looked at the parts involved with the lift kit, and I think that anyone with a welder and a little common sense could save themselves the $150 bucks. I've got Kenda, Bear Claws. They seem to do pretty well. I'm thinking that when I am do for tires, I'll probably replace the Claws with 25" Vampires, but I'm a little leary of them on hard pack. I haven't investigated raising the rev limiter. I'm not a big proponent of over-revving a 4 stroke. I think that all 4 strokes should have a rev limiter, if only for the simple fact that, it seems like every time my bikes end up on their tops, they somehow run wide open. How do you like your Foreman? It doesn't seem like a lot of people ride them and I can't figure out why not. Mine has never let me down, power, climbibg or otherwise. I hit a grass covered hill the other day that you would almost have to repel to get down it, and it went right up it. It took me a while to clean out my pants but I got to the top. Anyway, good luck. I know I never see any tests on the 400 I would like to see some head to heads with other utility 400's. I think the Foreman would lose in the suspension part though. I got my Carlisle Traks Max today. They look pretty good on the Foreman. I'll try some mud on the weekend.
