AXLE NUT ON A FOREMAN 400
#1
I've been trying to get the axle nut off my Foreman 400. My Honda Dealer said to heat it up to melt the lock tight. I tried that but it still wouldn't budge.I've been trying with a ratchet and a impact. The reason for removing it is to get at the brake drum. Help would be much appreciated ASAP. Thanks

don't heat up the metal... it can cause it to weaken and bend, if you don't know what you are doing. Clean the nut area w/ wd-40 - I mean sparkly clean... dirt can be your nemesis. Here are a few options:
1) try wd-40 and spray around the axle nut. Let the wd-40 do its works for about 3-5 minutes. Try it.
2) Act as if you are tightening the bolt. Tighten it and try to loosen it (also, wd-40 can be of help). That sometimes does the trick... I had to remove the axle nut to clean out my rear brakes.
A question: do you have two large adjustable wrenches? or did you use 1? If you use two, the job is MUCH easier. Hope this helps
