They are not even close. The TRX version is based on CR technology but of the early 1980s and not the mid 1980s.
The TRX is completly different from the CR engine.
The counter ballancer is the biggest difference between the two along with the transmission and cylinder porting design.

I rode a 2002 CR250 and its not even comparable,if I could afford it,I put the motor in my trx and just try to deal w/ the vibration,cant beleive how much grunt they put out,its a bunch[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

the trx motor did not have a power valve, the new CR motors also have case reed induction. The TRX was old tech even for the 80's the ports were dirty and not well shaped anyone w/ a dremmel tool could do magic, don/t dream of touching you CR ports unless you know 100% what you are doing, the motor was made to have an almost electric feel, no hit just smooth power. It only put ouy like 25 hp or so yes less than a 400ex it was faster b/c it was lighter. Today a CR is close to 40 or 45.
