Need some help i was looking in the dirt wheels mag and in it they had 2GTY-R Raptor 1 stock and 1 Alba and they did lap times with all for of them and way what i am getting at is that GTY-R makes a clutch kit and the clutch kit comes with Heavy-duty clutch plates ($109.95)and Aluminum billet clutch basket(Hinson)($225.00)and Billet clutch pressure plate ($175.00).I was think of getting it because i have a 01 Raptor and with no trany problem yet. They say you sould beef up your stock clutch went you and power to your Raptor. So let know what you think and if it is a good idea to get it .

with your gearing and what I assume your type of riding with that gearing the stock clutch set up should be fine.

MichaelAZ did you do the clutch kit your self or did you have the dealer do it for you if so what did it cost you?

Dealer put it in but Yamaha paid for it. (I've also bought 5 quads in the last year from this dealer) I would imagine somehere 200-250 range installed.

Micheal, out of curiosity, why don't you like syn oils? I have ran Castrol V-twin 20w50 full syn in my 250X with stock clutches and the barnett kevlar without any problems. I like this oil because I haven't been able to break it down with a race gas or Alky motor. After about a year with the orginal big bore on gas, I built the 410. The inside of the engine looked fine. I am just wondering what trouble you had, and what oil was it?

I Used the castro full synthetic and it made my oem clutch slip. Ive heard the same from others, semi isnt as "slippery" and has a lttle more resistance which will keep the discs from turning. Could be a wives tale but I havent had any more probs since I went yamalube 4r semi.
