Adjusting valves on '02 Grizzly
#1
I purchased a new '02 Grizzly 2 weeks ago. I've noticed on this message board that frequent adjustment of the valves is necessary. What is involved in adjusting the valves? What kind of tools are necessary? Is it difficult or is it just time consuming? Thanks for any replies in advance.

auger. with the manual, or better yet, the c.d. it isn't too bad.
tools needed. screwdrivers, a set of metric sockets, 2 needle nose pliers( a must) some time( like 2 hours the first time) and a good eye.
1.) remove front rack.
2.) remove side panels.
3.) reomve the gas tank cover.
4.) remove the gas tank.
5.) remove white plastic under gas tank.
6.) remove the left side cover, where the pull start is.
7.) remove the pull start.
that is what comes off to do it.( sounds worse than it is) now, you have to get the piston to top dead center. the manual or the c.d. will show you exactly how to do it. use the 2 needlenose instead of the special tool they require. buy a good set of feeler guages from yamaha, or a mototcycle shop. cost is about $5.00 for the set.
i did mine the first time, and was shocked that a dealer would charge us $200.00 to do this. by the 3rd time i did it, i got it down to under an hour!!!
good luck!!!
