I am wondering if the Yoshi system is legal here in CA without buying the extra tec option thing?

If you get the full yosh system, pay the extra $40 for the TEC option. It includes some type of quiet core insert and spark arrestor. With it installed, your DB level is supposedly 100 DB. The legal limit on noise in california is 101 db, so you'll be ok. As far as putting a new exhaust on your bike, and changing the jetting, check out my previous post on this:

Now they can measure DB pretty easy on the trail. I don't know how easy it is for them to do a smog check on the trail. At least, I haven't heard of them doing that yet, thank god. Only the future will tell. A few more restrictions, and I'm packing up the wife and kids and moving out of the "banana belt", and to a different state. Hopefully to a state where the new AIDS type disease hasn't spread, pronounced "liberalism.".
