hello every one
i went on a ride this week end(was pretty good).all day saturday and just a little on sunday about 150 miles.very dusty-this was in tug hill n.y.
my problem(2002 400 4x4) the temp light came on a couple times then went off, then on again but when hitting bumps flashed on and off. the
next day after sitting all night checked radiator level added 1 beer can of water.we went on a ride(aprox. 20miles) and the light came on again-we stopped to check it out and it was overflowing out the drain tube. let it cool-and continued ride-light came on ashort while later then went off and was fine after that.
any help would be great-i'm stopping at the dealers on tues.
sorry this is so long-but i'm not happy only 384 miles on this machine
thanks pie1

I had the same problem this weekend on 2001 500 manual. It is overheating if there is water coming out of the overflow tube. My fan quit working and I had to leave it at a friends house. I switched fuses and the fan worked once, but I could not get it to work again. Anybody else out there with a bad fan? Any Suggestions?

My 500i started flickering the temp light when it was in 1st gear low, but only 1st low, not neutral or 2nd low or 1st high or any other gear. Went away after a couple of rides, never came back.

My brother looked at the cat and found that the "heat switch" had went bad and ordered a new one. I thought that the cat did not have such a switch, I guess I was wrong, at least I don't need to pay for a new fan.
thanks wildweav

Hi Pie,
We had an overheating problem riding in WVa, it was really dry and dusty. We had the quad in water and some mud and then through all the dust. We had to wash out the radiator really well. It helped but later we found out that because it had overheated it cracked the water pump gasket, we bought a new gasket, replaced it and all has been well since. The water from the radiator was dripping out down by the foot boards. The gasket is located down there so if you notice a very slow leak down by the footboards that could be your problem.

THANKS CATWOMAN
I WILL KEEP THAT IN MIND.BUT HOPEFULLY MY DEALER WILL GET IT FIXED AND UNDER WARRANTY ? BUT SOUNDS LIKE THE DIFFERENTIAL SEALS IS KINDA COMMON.
WHERE DID YOU RIDE IN WEST VIRGINA - HATFIELD AND MCOY ? WE ARE TALKING ABOUT PLANNING A TRIP THERE NEXT YEAR.
THANKS PIE1
