gonna get a used banshee
#1
I am going to get a used banshee to built to drag race. I am not very familiar with 2-strokes so I am asking for your help. What do I need to look for? Someone told me they made a couple different variations of the engine, if so which one is best? Any help would be appreciated.

The engine has not changed, they used j arms on the early ones, but I think they went to a arms in like 90 or 91.
They are great machines, nothing has the aftermarket like the banshee. There are still companies coming out with new parts for them all the time.
I have a 2003 and love it. It is a thrill to ride. Find a good builder for the engine and you cannot go wrong. Talk to people in your area and I am sure you can find a good deal of info.

The engines are pretty much the same as when they came out in 87.The major things on them,(at least from my experience)are that the crankshafts start seperating after time, and it can damage the cases.I've owned three banshee's,and I had the cranks trued and welded when I tore them down for a rebuild.I had this happen on the first one I owned, but luckily it didn't damage the case, just the end bearings. So I made it a point to fix the other two beforehand. They are hard on clutches too.hope this helps ya...
