I had that problem too. Told my dealer and the gave me another cap and the problem was fixed. Cannondale change the tanks to a 3.2 gallon one and that supposely fixed the problem. The orginal problem is the threads between the cap and the tank have too much play. Sometimes it's jsut the cap (my case) and sometimes the whole thing needs to be replace. Tell you dealer and ask for a free cap to try and see if that fixes it, if not see about the new tank, should be free, but I like the older larger one since I race harescrambles.

Yes, check with your dealer first, they should be able to fix you up with a new one for nothing. In the meantime, a really good way to fix it is to order a gasket for a 400ex gas tank cap and trim it a little and set it in. It will seal everything up for you while are waiting for your new cap and/or tank to show up and have under $5 invested.

My Moto's gas cap leaked the 1st time I rode it and I didn't think much about it (although it is a dangerous situation) and when I read about the problem on this board I called my dealer and ordered a new cap and tank under warranty. I'm still waiting for it but am confident it will show up.
