what is the top speed of the 250x? im looking for a cheap, reliable, fast sport quad. will it smoke my rancher? what has to be done to it to make it faster and more powerfull then a piped 300ex?

 

Well, their really the same bike. The 300EX is only 282CC.

The 250X tops out around 55, depending on rider weight, ect.
It will probably smoke your Rancher.(I would deffinetly think so)
They are cheap, and very very reliable. They are fun and pretty torquey, but compaired to todays
bikes,(and yesterdays 2 stroke quads) they arnt that fast.

would you say its a good MX bike to start out on? how would it compare stock to stock in drag race and top speed w/ 300ex? and if i got it bored to 310cc, would would it be more compareible to w/ todays bikes?

 

The 300ex is a much better MX bike and has way more pontial. The 250 ex is an entry bike and even w/ a lot of work will not be much more. It is a great bike but the 300 and 250 were desgned w/ 2 different purposes in mind.

 

im talking about the older 250X not the 250ex. the 250X is an early model of a 300ex.

 

250x vs 300ex bone stock= 250x wins

 

Sorry I disagree the 250x is the same as the 300EX just bumped 50cc the 300 is a bit faster but the biggest dif is in mid range. However if you find a 250 for the right price buy it and bump it up and add shocks you will end up w/ a better unit.

 

If i were u i would go for the LTZ-250.It will smoke a rancher.

 

I had a 250X and it was quicker than the 300EX when stock. They are not only lighter overall but have a different rev limiter and I believe it's like 1000 rpm higher than the 300EX. It's probably going to be so close that rider skill will determine the winner anyway.

 

Ive got a stock 250x....with the wife on it,and me on the grizzly, it will top out at 61mph on a dirt road.
The 250x is very quick for what it is.
It does seem small for a adult.
