1999 SP500 U-joints! driving me nuts
#1
hello all:
I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to help me. My friend and I are changing the u joints on my bike. The ones on the prop shaft were bad--the shft came out nicely though.
Where I'm having trouble is getting the roller pins out of the front in order to change the fronts. We ended up having to take the clips out of the bearings and just beat the bearings out with a hammer. How in the heck do you get a punch in there?
Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you that Polaris for some reason thinks that all of the four bearings are the same, when they clearly are NOT. The ones on the prop shaft have larger caps than the front wheels.
Does anyone have part numbers for a 99 machine made in August 98?

pf - check here for online part numbers for your 1999 machine:
http://www.partsland.com/index.cgi?N...-SPORTSMAN-500
then scroll down to 'prop shaft' - your part numbers should be right there.

um, thanks but how do I get the roller pin out?
Also, if you look, they are calling for the same bearing but the ones I took out are clearly different. Maybe I can use the same one all around?
