Default Lil more snap for the 500 HO??

I have a 02 SP 500 HO. I was wondering what you guys have done or heard about to get more go out of this machine, not that it is bad now but can always use more. Been considering a clutch kit mainly but unsure which performs better. I know pipes don't wake up a 4 stroke as they do a 2. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

try a K&N, and a clutch kit.

if you want any more gains your gonna have to spend alot of money..

but i still say lighter rims and tires is the way to go..

I put a 700 belt on my 02 500HO. I ran against my friends 99 500 we were pretty even and I slightly pulled away. I then changed to the 700 belt and ran them again. I smoked him out of the hole and ran away on the top end. Cheap mod that works.

polarismech, you say that lighter tire and rim combination is the way to go , do you think that itp 589's with c series rims is a good choice or would you recomend a differant combination . by the way i plan on sticking with 25" tires and not going larger . all of my friends that have put on big foot kits have found that thier performance has suffered severely for all riding other than mud .

i'd compare the weight of the rim and tire your were going to purchase with what else is out there.
one pund hear and there of "reciprocating" weight makes big differnce.
and i think sticking with a 25 inch tire is a good choice.

I have a set of 589 M/S 26 inch that I am going put on the back, mainly for mudding. Had them on my xplorer and really helped. I have a friend that has a 400 ac manual that I have to keep ahead of so want the lil extra go for that mainly. It only has 310 miles on it so is relativly new yet and 2 months old. I know there are a few clutch makers (HPD, Hotseat, Ritter, & Heelclicker, Aaen) anyone had any experience with any of these? What does the 700 belt do for you?

I'd suggest EPI for the clutch kit and Uni for the filter. A "baggy" water repellent Outerwears will help cut down filter maintenance.
