290W stator, how much is really available?
#1
I want to add lights. How much wattage can I add without over taxing the stator. I understand the the output from the stator is dependent on RPM. At what RPM does the stator reach 290W?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I would guess the stator reaches max output at around 3000 rpm. I asked the factory and they couldn't help.
I installed the Baja light kit and the Trailtech handlebar lights.
I'm running 260w worth of light and she idles fine with everything on.
I now have plenty of light for night rides.

Thanks for the feedback. One more question, what is the best way to tie into the output from the stator? Do you run separate wires from the battery, or splice into existing wiring?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

I think it depends on what your installing.
For the Baja lights, the kit comes with a new harness. For the TrailTech, I made my own harness.
Connecting anything directly to the battery bypasses the voltage regulator so make sure to install a fuse inline.
